Jeff Ramsey cares about every alabamian.

Blue Collar Alabama

Born and raised in Thomasville, Jeff knows what it’s like to grow up as the son of a struggling, single mother, in the rural Alabama woods. While home was modest, it was a place anyone was welcome, meals were best shared among friends, and taking care of each other is just what folks do.

Jeff has always known hard work. Like many, he started working as a teen, but when he became a father at nineteen, he knew he needed to find a career, leading him to the shipyards of Mississippi. Following in his mother’s union-member footsteps, he joined his first union in 2009, the IBEW.

Jeff knows personally how hard it is to struggle to make ends meet. He knows what it’s like to scour the scrapyard for car parts, trade chicken eggs for tomatoes, and help a neighbor fix a roof. He knows what it’s like to care for ailing family members in an unforgiving, expensive, confusing healthcare system.

working class leadership

As a journeyman, foreman, project manager, and now business owner, Jeff has always advocated for workers and every day folks. That kind of toughness, ingenuity, and grit has served him well in automotive shops, shipyards, and construction sites.

He leads job sites with crew collaboration and the core belief that every worker is important, transparency is key, and workers deserve to share fairly and generously in the rewards for hard work and innovation.

Growing up in a post 9/11 world, adapting to a globally connected society, Jeff started using social media sharing snippets of daily life, from working on cars, home repairs, or job site humor. He has become known for voicing his opinions and sharing insights about the issues we see day in and day out as the working class.

His ability to speak plainly and passionately on a broad range of social topics, especially around organizing for workers rights, inspires Alabamians, Southerners, and fellow workers to unite in building coalitions and reimagine a society that is inclusive and supportive of all.
